The IDB's Annual Governors Meeting officially announced that Chile will host the next Assembly in March 2025. The sixty-fifth edition will take place in Santiago and Punta Arenas, with thematic activities aligned with the event.
In the closing session, after agreeing on the Bank's operational themes, Chile presented a video inviting other member nations to attend and hold the Assembly in Chile.
The video highlights three pillars: sustainability, democracy, and diversity, showcasing Chile's geographical and demographic diversit. Minister Marcel noted the significance of hosting the Assembly for Chile, emphasizing the opportunity to strengthen cooperation among nations and find joint solutions to common regional challenges.
"We have proposed that it take place in Santiago with activities also in Punta Arenas, a city that is concentrating a significant portion of the new opportunities for the development of sustainable green hydrogen energies. It is a place where natural capital issues intersect with productive development. So, we believe it will be a significant innovation for the nature of these meetings," stated the Minister of Finance, Mario Marcel.
Hosting part of the event in Punta Arenas aims to showcase public management efforts in productive and territorial transformation to address climate change and highlight sustainable investment opportunities in the Magallanes region.
Marcel highlighted the impact of hosting the Annual Assembly for Chile, noting it as an opportunity to engage with potential investors, connect local businesses with financial partners, and deepen discussions on economic policy and development.
