Contract workers from Minera Liex, located in Catamarca, Argentina, are reporting delays in payments for services rendered in the “Tres Quebradas” lithium project.

According to a letter sent today to Zijin Mining Group’s CEO, Gao Jianneng, they accuse the company of a lack of response and "systematic breaches of the terms established in the signed contract."

“In particular, we refer to the delay in the payment of SEVEN certificates for services rendered, with the oldest unpaid certificate dating back to February of this year,” said Felix Díaz, president of the contracting company Edificat Construcciones, in the letter.

It was added that the situation is concerning: “Our company supports 158 families who are currently facing uncertainty about their future.” They also stated that “if we do not receive the payments owed, we would be forced to declare bankruptcy, which would have severe repercussions locally and regionally.

According to the contracting company, if they go bankrupt, it would result in the loss of employment for 101 workers and impact 57 other contractor employees: "Our suppliers would face serious difficulties."

Finally, a call was made to the Chinese company “to reflect,” noting that the intention is not to create conflict but "to seek a prompt resolution to this situation, as time is running out for us."
