Hannan Metals Reports High-Grade Gold Discovery at Previsto Project in Peru

Agustín de Vicente / February 12, 2025 | 09:10
Hannan Metals remains committed to unlocking the full potential of the Valiente gold-copper project, systematically de-risking key targets, and advancing exploration activities toward future drilling campaigns.

Hannan Metals Limited ("Hannan" or the "Company") (TSXV: HAN) (OTCPK: HANNF) has announced a significant gold discovery at its 100%-owned Previsto project in Peru. The recent channel sampling results confirm the presence of high-grade alkalic-type epithermal gold mineralization, with notable intercepts including 69.1 meters at 2.4 g/t gold (Au), and a higher-grade section of 26.0 meters at 5.4 g/t Au.

Key Highlights

Significant Gold Intersections:

  • North-south channel (CH15486):
    69.1 m @ 2.4 g/t Au and 13 g/t Ag, including:
    26.0 m @ 5.4 g/t Au and 27 g/t Ag
    Peak assays: 0.7 m @ 16.1 g/t Au, 60 g/t Ag, 48 g/t Te
  • East-west channel (CH16401):
    7.0 m @ 1.2 g/t Au and 19 g/t Ag
  • Expansive Gold System:
The discovery is located within a 6 km x 6 km epithermal-porphyry cluster, suggesting a large-scale mineralized system.
The deposit sits on the northern edge of a 4 km x 4 km gold-in-soil anomaly (>0.1 g/t Au), emphasizing further exploration potential.
  • Strategic Exploration Program:
This discovery is part of Hannan’s systematic exploration strategy across the 150 km-long Valiente gold-copper project.
Drill permits for the nearby Belen project (20 km SW) are already secured, with drilling scheduled for Q2 2025.

CEO Statement

Michael Hudson, CEO of Hannan Metals, commented:

"This new discovery at Previsto represents a major opportunity for the development of a high-grade gold district in Peru. The presence of gold mineralization at surface, combined with the scale of the system, is highly encouraging. Our exploration approach is focused on systematically evaluating the potential of this emerging mineral belt."

Geological Setting & Mineralization

The gold mineralization at Previsto was identified following reconnaissance sampling of high-grade rock samples (0.4 m @ 7 g/t Au). The mineralization is hosted in brecciated, calcareous K-feldspar porphyry with notable alteration, including roscoelite (vanadium-rich potassic mica) and fine grey quartz veining with pyrite. High-grade gold zones also contain manganese oxides, indicating the presence of rhodochrosite, a characteristic of low-sulfidation epithermal deposits.

Emerging District-Scale Epithermal-Porphyry System

Hannan’s findings at Previsto complement the broader Valiente project, which hosts multiple untested porphyry and epithermal gold targets, including:

  • 1.3 km NW: Copper porphyry mineralization (previously reported 192 m @ 0.16% Cu).
  • 2.6 km E: Gold-copper porphyry-epithermal target with soil anomalies up to 0.6 g/t Au.

Next Steps at Previsto

Hannan plans to expand its exploration activities at Previsto, including:

  • Additional channel and soil sampling to delineate mineralization.
  • Geological mapping and structural analysis to refine exploration models.
  • Geophysical surveys to identify drill targets.
  • Drill permitting in 2025 as exploration progresses.

Comparable Global Alkalic Epithermal Gold Deposits

The Previsto mineralization shares similarities with major alkalic-type epithermal gold deposits, including:

  • Porgera, Papua New Guinea: Over 16 Moz Au historic production.
  • Cripple Creek, Colorado: More than 23 Moz Au historic production.

About the Valiente Project

The Valiente project is located in central-eastern Peru and covers 1,002 km² of mining concessions. Hannan has been systematically prospecting the area since 2021, identifying multiple copper and gold targets. With drilling expected at Belen in Q2 2025, the company is advancing its long-term strategy to explore and develop this promising mineral belt.

Hannan Metals remains committed to unlocking the full potential of the Valiente gold-copper project, systematically de-risking key targets, and advancing exploration activities toward future drilling campaigns.
