The firm aims to showcase its integrated solutions for the water industry through its diverse technological portfolio.

A significant delegation from ABB will attend the International Congress ACADES "New Water Sources for Chile," organized by the Chilean Desalination and Reuse Association, taking place on March 20 and 21 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Santiago, Chile.

With the goal of ,fostering a more productive and sustainable future for the water industry the leading technology company will present the latest innovations from its portfolio, focusing on three business areas: Electrification (EL), Process Automation (PA), and Motion (MO).

Andrés Palomino, ABB's Energy Industries Latam Sales Manager, emphasized that the company will showcase solutions designed to make water-related projects technically and commercially viable. "Our aim is to help clients reduce their carbon footprint during project execution and meet their sustainability KPIs during plant operation."

In the national context, where approximately 30% of managed water resources are lost, ABB offers systems to identify and optimize these losses, turning them into tangible gains for its customers. "With the systems we have, we seek to identify where and why these losses occur, thus optimizing the resource," added ABB's Energy Industries Latam Sales Manager.

Products and solutions for greater efficiency

One of the speakers at ACADES 2024 will be Diego Aldana, ABB's Sales Specialist for Renewable Energies in Chile, who mentioned that the company will showcase its wide range of products and technologies for electrical rooms, offering comprehensive solutions from planning and design to construction and maintenance.

"The main products and technologies to be presented include modular solutions, Medium Voltage Switchgear (SWG MT), control and protections, digitalization, and commissioning and maintenance services. We will highlight the modular and scalable systems that offer a complete solution for electrical distribution, control, and protection of data centers, geared towards desalination or water treatment processes," said Diego Aldana.

Marco Achilea, ABB's Global Segment Manager Water & Infrastructure, emphasized the importance of automation and digitalization in the wastewater sector, presenting solutions such as ABB Ability™ Energy Management OPTIMAX®.

"In this context, it is appropriate to present the company's offer related to automation and digitalization, which aims to improve performance, achieve greater energy efficiency, and focus on cybersecurity," highlighted Marco Achilea.

Focusing on energy consumption

Another area to delve into at the ACADES Congress will be the role of electric motors and drives in energy consumption in the water industry. Héctor Farías, ABB's Motion Business Sales Manager, pointed out the contribution of these technologies to address climate change.

"We will highlight energy-efficient solutions in the operation of centrifugal pumps for water production and transport with ABB SynRM IE5 Ultra Premium efficiency class Drives and Motors. In addition, we will emphasize the impact of ABB Ability™ digitalization on Motors and Drives in water plants, which allows for reduced maintenance costs through remote asset condition monitoring," said Héctor Farías.

Martín Castellucci, ABB's Country Holding Officer in Chile and Peru, will participate in the panel "Financing and bankability of projects: building trust." During his intervention, he will share ABB's strategy to address project financing and strengthen relations with investors, as well as highlight the company's solid portfolio to tackle financial challenges in project development.

In this way, with a wide technological portfolio, ABB will participate in the ACADES Congress with distinguished specialists who demonstrate why the company has the capacity to develop an integral project, covering the entire value chain of electrification and automation, digitalization, instrumentation, electrification, and motors.

"With our equipment, customers can optimize project execution. Through operational models that reduce execution time and risks, ABB contributes to the goal of developing initiatives within the planned timeframe," concluded Andrés Palomino, ABB's Energy Industries Latam Sales Manager.
