Halcones Precious Metals expands mineralized footprint at Polaris Project

Agustín de Vicente / February 13, 2025 | 02:41
With extensive outcrop mineralization and no previous drilling, the project stands as a key opportunity for future investments and exploration in Chile's mining sector.

Halcones Precious Metals Corp. (TSX-V: HPM) has announced new results from the sampling program at its Polaris Project, located in the Antofagasta Region, Chile. Polaris is an extensive and highly prospective gold project that has never been drilled and where no modern exploration has been conducted beyond basic rock sampling and mapping.

Recent sampling has extended the mineralization trend to 3.9 km, with rock samples exceeding 1 g/t gold. This trend remains open for another 2 km to the north and 1.5 km to the south before reaching the property boundaries, suggesting significant potential for future exploration.

A Remarkable Discovery

Halcones' CEO, Ian Parkinson, highlighted the significance of the findings:

“It is extremely rare to find such an extensive gold trend that has never been drilled. In my more than ten years as a senior mining analyst for leading financial institutions, I have never seen a single project with such extensive mineralization in outcrops and no history of systematic exploration. We are very excited about the potential of Polaris.”

The recent fieldwork focused on the North Zone of the project, leading to an expansion of the high-priority target area for future drilling. The rock samples have shown significant mineralization, leading Halcones' geologists to believe that the North and South Zones could merge into a single large-scale gold anomaly.

Sampling Highlights

The latest batch of 44 assays revealed outstanding values, including:

  • 29.04 g/t, 10.67 g/t, and 3.54 g/t gold, primarily from stockwork.
  • These results add to the previously reported 20.05 g/t, 13.08 g/t, 8.54 g/t, and 6.67 g/t gold assays.
  • The North Zone sampling area has expanded by 210% compared to initial observations.

Next Steps in Exploration

Halcones plans the next phase of sampling to:

  • Expand exploration in the anomalous zone between the North and South Zones.
  • Assess the potential for an open-pit bulk tonnage mine based on stockwork mineralization.
  • Extend sampling in areas with thin colluvial cover to define mineralization continuity.

Halcones' technical team is currently preparing for the next field campaign, aiming to confirm Polaris' potential as a major gold deposit.

Sampling and Analysis Methodology

The sampling process was conducted using 1-meter-long channel samples to ensure material representativeness. Each sample was collected perpendicular to the mineralized structure and weighed a minimum of 2 kg.

Analyses were performed by ANDES ANALITYCAL ASSAY in Copiapó and Santiago, Chile. Gold assays were conducted using fire assay (AEF_AAS_1E42-FF), while multi-element analysis was performed using ICP_AES_AR34m1, adhering to international quality standards ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
